How can I lose weight automatically?

cs automatic weight loss method 2This is a question that I get challenged with a lot, since I claim that not only is it possible, but easy.

But first let’s get clear on what “automatic” actually means. Can we agree that “automatic” does not mean:

  • Deliberately trying to talk yourself into thinking differently
  • Deliberately trying to form new habits
  • Deliberately trying to change the food you eat
  • Being disciplined about saying “no” to yourself and others
  • Forcing yourself to fast or time restrict your meals

Or doing anything else that actually requires willpower or self discipline. Because precisely NONE of that is “automatic”.

There’s only one way to lose weight automatically, apart from being unwell

The one and only way to lose weight automatically is for your actual preferences to change, not by willpower, but because your old conditioning (your inner thoughts, feelings and behaviours around food) have been changed. So that your inner “autopilot” stops sending you old messages and you actually have free will about food instead of being controlled by food.

In psychology, we call this “extinction of conditioned reponses”.

Sue loved chocolate

Sue kindly offered to be a volunteer for the automatic weight loss method, including being filmed before and after.

We did a 5-minute technique aimed at wiping out her “overliking” for chocolate and at the end of that Sue definitely did not want chocolate. Months later she was no longer eating a lot of chocolate and had lost weight truly automatically.

Jacquie loved hot potato chips (fries)

Jacqie was another generous guinea pig.

We did a 5-minute technique aimed at wiping out her “overliking” for potato chips and at the end of that, as you can see from the video, Jacquie did not want potato chips.

A few months later Jacquie took me aside to show me how her trousers were being held up by a very much tightened belt. She had maybe had potato chips twice, and had lost weight truly automatically.

Now that’s automatic.
